Work Orders work best when you link customer and vehicle information in there from the start. This helps you track an accurate history of services provided to or estimated for the customer and keeps all the work you have done for a vehicle in a centralized, easy to find location on the Customer record. Each work order has places for Customer and Vehicle at the top of the Work Order screen.
Customer - This is the customer for this work order.

- Searching for customer - This field allows you to search all of your existing customers. To find any customer, start typing in the customer field. Matching customer names will be displayed.
- Adding a new customer - If no customer is found, you can add a new customer right from the Work Order page by pressing the green button to the right of the Customer name field. Clicking this button will open the Create a customer sidebar.

Once you have added the customer, they will appear when you start typing their name into the Customer field in the Work Order.
Vehicle - This is the Customer’s vehicle you are working on for this work order.
- Adding a new Vehicle to the customer - Once a customer is selected, their vehicles are displayed in the Vehicle dropdown. If this is a new customer or you are working on a new vehicle that’s not in the system yet, click the grey button to the right of the vehicle selector. This will open the Add new vehicle sidebar.

- VIN Lookup - Bay Boss includes a free VIN Lookup tool that allows you to enter the vehicle’s VIN and we populate the year, make, model and trim for the vehicle for you. Optionally, you can enter everything in manually. To use the VIN Lookup, enter the vehicle VIN and then click the Orange button to the right of the VIN. Details will be auto populated.
