Overview & Supported Hardware
Bay Boss now supports direct, countertop card-present payments powered by Stripe Terminal. Rather than sending an email or text link while a customer stands at the front desk, service advisors can route transactions straight to an internet-connected smart reader for tap (Apple Pay / Google Pay / contactless cards), chip (EMV), or swipe.
Requires the Stripe Integration to be enabled for your account
Compatible Readers
- Stripe Reader S700: Handheld/countertop smart terminal with a 7" touchscreen and built-in barcode scanner. Best for high-volume service counters and mobile bay checkout.
- BBPOS WisePOS E: Standard countertop terminal with a 5" touchscreen. Compact footprint for dedicated front-office desks.
- Purchase your Stripe Terminal Reader - You can view a list of all supported devices and purchase one for your shop on Stripe’s website.

- Verify Details and Select Reader: A popup will appear that allows you to select the reader to send the transaction to (if you have multiple readers configured).
- Select the appropriate reader, or leave the default reader selected.
- Verify the payment amount is correct.
- When the customer is ready, click Send to Terminal/

- Customer Action: The customer taps their phone/card or inserts their chip.

- Automatic Reconciliation: ◦ The moment the card approves, Bay Boss automatically records the transaction, updates the invoice balance, captures card details (e.g., Visa ending in 4242 - Tap), and presents receipt printing options.

Voiding or Canceling a Pending Terminal Push
If a customer changes their mind, wants to switch cards, or decides to pay cash while the reader is actively waiting:
- On the Bay Boss screen, click "Cancel Transaction" on the waiting modal.
- Bay Boss signals the reader to clear the prompt immediately, returning the device to your shop’s idle welcome screen.
Common Troubleshooting FAQs
The reader says "Disconnected" or "Offline" in Bay Boss:
- Ensure the reader is on the same local network subnet. If Wi-Fi dropped, power-cycle the device or re-enter the network password in the reader’s internal settings.
The pairing code expired before saving:
- Stripe pairing codes expire after roughly 5 minutes for security. Re-run Diagnostics on the reader to generate a fresh code.
Can we run split payments across two cards?
- Yes. Enter the first amount (e.g., half the total) and push to the reader. Once approved, the Work Order status will reflect the reduced balance. Then trigger a second terminal payment for the remaining balance.
