Adding Shop Fees

Fees can be used as additional charges on Work Orders.

Shop Fees

Shop Fees are available as additional charges to any job in a Work Order or as additional fees to the entire Work Order. These can be either a fixed amount ($20) or a percentage of the job or Work Order they are added to (15%). Examples for fees are Shop Supplies, or Disposal Fees.

Create Shop Fee - To create a new Shop Fee, click on the “New Shop Fee” button at the top right of your screen. Give your new fee a Name, Fee Type (fixed or percentage) and a Fee Rate.

There are two types of Fees and how you create them controls how they can be used in the Work Order. Bay Boss allows you to create as many different types of fees as you need for your Shop.

  • Job Level Fees - These can be used in Jobs only. They can either be fixed amounts or percentages. Percentage amounts will be calculated on the Job this fee is added tp.
  • Global Fees - These apply to the whole Work Order. They can either be fixed amounts or percentages also, but they have the added attribute of assigning a Maximum amount. Example, you want to charge 3% fee for “Shop Supplies” on an entire job up to $50. When you add this fee, the charge will look at the total Work Order and charge an additional 3% of the total Work Order - up to $50. Global fees will be denoted by a small globe icon.

Note: You can always change the fees in Shop Fees, but these changes will only impact new fees added to Work Orders after the change. Changes will not affect fees already inserted into a Work Order.

Edit Shop Fee - To edit any Shop Fee, click on the 3 dots to the right of the fee. All fields can be edited. Editing a fee rate does not change Work Orders where this fee was previously used. It will only change Shop Fees going forward.

AI Assist - The purple AI Assist button can be used to provide additional insight when creating items to see competitive rates for various items (Labor, Pricing Matrices and Fees) for your shop type and location.
