Customizing Shop Bays

Notion image

Overview Bay Boss allows you to customize the names of your shop's bays so your digital dispatch board reflects the physical layout of your shop floor. Whether you run standard numbered lifts or specialized stations (like an Alignment Rack, Quick Lube Bay, or EV Station), you can label each bay to match your workflow.

How to Configure and Rename Your Bays

  1. Navigate to Settings: Click on Settings in the main navigation menu and select the Bay Configuration tab.
  1. Add or Adjust Bays: Click the + Add Bay button to create new bays to match the total number of work areas in your facility.
  1. Rename Your Bays:
      • Click into the text field for any bay (e.g., Bay 1, Bay 2).
      • Type your custom station name (e.g., Alignment Rack, Tire Bay, Heavy Duty Lift).
      • Your changes save automatically.
  1. Reorder or Remove: Deactivate or delete bays that are no longer in active use.

Where Custom Bay Names Appear in Bay Boss

  • The Bay Board (Work Orders View): Each column header in the Bay dispatch view displays your custom station label, making it easy to drag and drop repair orders to the right station.
  • Work Order Details & Creation: The Bay selector dropdown in the Repair Order editor shows your custom bay names for quick assignment.
  • Work Order Cards: Badges on active repair order cards display the designated bay name so technicians and service writers know where the vehicle is located at a glance.
